The 20th European Athletics Championships in Barcelona has crossed the milestone of 1,000 hours of expected television coverage, with 45 television channels from across Europe and outside the continent expressing intentions to televise the biggest athletics event of the year.

According to the current broadcast intentions for the championships received by European Athletics there will be at least 1,001 hours of television coverage over the six days of the championships, including more than 900 hours of live coverage.

The total number of hours of intended coverage will increase once the broadcast intentions of the remaining rights-holders are received.

National broadcasters from 27 European countries will be showing the event, while, in addition, pan-European channel Eurosport plans to show the majority of the championships live across its 59 territories.

Outside Europe, the event will be broadcast by TBS in Japan, KBS in South Korea, Dubai Sports and pan-Asian channel ESPN Star Asia.

The European Athletics Championships is the biggest event in the European Athletics’ competition programme.  A record 1,368 athletes from 50 countries are entered for this year's event in Barcelona.

The event is supported by European Athletics’ long-standing international partners SPAR, OMEGA, EPSON, LE GRUYÈRE and EUROVISION, along with a number of national partners and suppliers.
