Defending Pole Vault champion Danny Ecker remains
Germany's biggest hope in Torino. |
With an eye on future the German Athletics Federation on Monday named a promising young team for the 30th European Athletics Indoor Championships to be held in Torino from March 6-8.
The squad will be one of the youngest teams ever to represent Germany at the biggest continental indoor championships. With an average age of 25.3 years, the athletes will showcase Germany's future in track and field.
If the performances at the National Indoor Championships are anything to go by the German Athletics Federations can stay optimistic about its chances at the Italian city. After strong performances in Leipzig last weekend the German Athletics Federation added some untested names to their nomination list.
The focus of the 38-member team is clear in the presence of 15 athletes in jumping events. The team has been split into 24 men and 14 women. The stars to look out for will be High Jump sensation Ariane Friedrich along with prodigious Raul Spank besides European Indoor Champion Danny Ecker (Pole Vault) among others.
