Biography

New Olympic Champion, Germany’s first in the men’s javelin since 1972.

9 WJC 2010; 7 under-23 ECH 2011; 2 ETCh 2013; 3 under-23 ECH 2013; 4 WCH 2015 (2013-dnq); 5 ECH 2016 (2020-dnq, 2014-12); 1 OLY 2016. 1 German 2012/2013/2014/2015/2016. They call him the "Regenwerfer" (rain thrower) because he has a habit of throwing well in the wet. 1.92/92kg.

His father (Heiko) was once GDR champion in the activity of fishing rod casting. Coach-Harro Schwuchow (formerly Boris Henry).

In 2017: 1 Doha Diamond; 4 Offenburg; 1 Kawasaki; 1 Rome Diamond; 1 Jena; 1 Turku; 1 Kuortane.

In Doha he threw 93.90 in ideal conditions (others also threw long), with the javelin landing just in front of a TV camerman. Only Jan elezn ever threw further .
