Javelin legend Zelezny to speak at World Javelin Conference | 31.10.2012
Zelezny, a recipient of the European Athletics Coaching Award in 2012, will also give a coaching demonstration with former world champion Tero Pitkämäki of Finland.
The conference, a part of the 2012 European Athletics Coaching Summit Series, will also feature Finnish javelin head coach Kari Ihalainen, renowned American coach Vern Gambetta, and Frans Bosch of the Netherlands as an expert in motor control.
The practical-knowledge oriented conference will offer the best opportunity to pick up the latest information and ideas on all aspects of the javelin from top coaches, athletes and scientists. The programme will feature presentations, practical demonstrations, discussions and opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with the best on the circuit.
Riku Valleala from the Research Institute of Olympic Sport (KIHU) in Jyväskylä will present some interest findings from some recent biomechanical studies in javelin throwing. He will be joined by Lauri Kettunen from the Tampere University of Technology, who will present the latest findings of his university in the field of javelin throwing.
European Athletics' support for the symposium includes the offer of Coaching Summit Series scholarships to its Member Federations to help them cover the costs of travel and accommodation for coaches attending.
