As Turkey play host to the 53rd European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country in Kastamonu on Sunday, their senior women will be looking for a repeat performance from 12 months ago in Guadalajara.
It was there that Irene Cheptai and Ozlem Kaya finished first and second to lead Turkish side Uskudar Belediye to the title.
And the pair return again to spearhead their bid to win their fourth team crown in six years at this event.
The women's race could be a close competition, with Portugal’s Sport Lisboa e Benfica posing a big threat. They include in their team Dulce Felix, an eight-times medallist at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships, while Spain's Bilbao Atletismo have the Fuentes-Pila sisters, Iris Maria and Zulema.
Othmane El Goumri, running for French side Ales Cevennes Athletisme, won the individual title last year and he, and they, return in the men's senior event.
It was the Guadalajara club itself which made it an occasion to remember for Spain as they won the team event in front of their home fans in 2015 and this time the country are represented by A.D. Marathon.
Istanbul BBSK compete for the hosts with their squad made up of Muzaffer Bayram, Mehmet Caglayan, Sedat Gunen, Vedat Gunen, Bekir Karayel and Cihat Ukus.
Turkey's Kocaeli Darica successfully defended their men's junior title last year, with Ramazan Karagoz winning the individual race, and they will both be seeking more of the same on Sunday.
The hosts are also represented by Fenerbahce Sport Club, who have a women's junior team, too, along with Bursa Buyuksehir, while in the Danish women's squad from Blovstroed Loeverne is 18-year-old Anna-Emilie Moller, who was eighth in the junior race at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Hyères last month.
