European Athletics is pleased to announce that the official "Ostrava 2011" website for the European Athletics U23 Championships has been launched.
The English-language website can be found at www.ostrava2011.com.
The eighth edition of the biennial European Athletics U23 Championships is set to take place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, through 14-17 July 2011.
The inaugural European under-23 championships were held in the Finnish town of Turku in 1997. Since then, championships have been held in Gothenburg; Amsterdam; Bydgoszcz, Poland; Erfurt, Germany; Debrecen, Hungary; and Kaunas, Lithuania, in 2009.
The European Athletics U23 Championships act as a bridge between junior and senior competition and offer an excellent opportunity for aspiring Olympic, world and European champions to compete against the best athletes in their own age group.
Previous gold medallists at these under-23 championships include pole vault world-record holder Yelena Isinbayeva, former Olympic 800m champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia, Czech high jumper Jaroslav Baba and Germany's Jennifer Oeser, world silver medalist in the Heptathlon at Berlin 2009.
