Team Leaders and LOC managers at the Šamorín 2017 SPAR European Cross Country Championships Site Visit

Team Leaders from Great Britain, Austria and Czech Republic took the opportunity for a Site Visit on Wednesday (8) to inspect the facilities being prepared for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in the Slovak town of Šamorín on 10 December.

The Site Visit took in a general tour of the x-bionic sphere resort, where the championships will be staged, the accommodation for the teams and, very pertinently, the course itself.

Most of the questions from the Team Leaders focussed on the construction of the course and the artificial obstacles, as well as different terrain underfoot with runners having to negotiate several different types of turf and sand.

With the last two SPAR European Cross Country Championships having been on staged at venues on the Mediterranean coast, the various teams are preparing for a return to the colder climate likely to be found in Central Europe during December.

LOC Event Coordinator Vladimir Gubricky, LOC Competition Director Marcel Matanin Competition Director and Event Manager Marian Hammel acted as the hosts and guides for the overseas delegations.
