In exactly 12 days time, on Sunday 1 June 2008, the battle for the $1 million Golden League jackpot will commence in the German capital's atmospheric 1936 Olympic stadium where the DKB-ISTAF Berlin meeting is staged.

Last September when the Berlin meeting concluded the 2007 Golden League, it attracted a record 70,253 spectators, with Yelena Isinbayeva and Sanya Richards sharing the $1 million prize.

Another vast crowd on 1 June will cheer athletes out of the blocks and down the runways as they start their season long quest to remain unbeaten at all six Golden League meetings.

In 2008, there are 10 disciplines eligable for the Golden League Jackpot, six events for men and four for women:

Athletes are required to win at all six Golden League meetings to acquire at least a share of athletics' biggest yearly payday.  Although in order to sustain the active participation in the Jackpot of as many athletes as possible through to the culmination of the series, the possibility of a secondary prize also exists as it did in 2007.  Should NO athlete manage to attain six wins and claim the $1 Million, then anyone with five victories will share half the original prize - $500,000.
