An enterprising group of athletics
enthusiasts from the UK
are hoping to create the first ever "Cyber-Multi-Events Competition" to
encourage young people to participate more in athletics.
The first competition will focus on the
200m, the High Jump and the Javelin, and is planned to take place between 01-07
September.
All athletes participating in the event
will have their coaches record their performances during this period and email
them in to the ‘Cyber organisers' - all results will be taken on a trust basis.
The competition is free and open to
international applicants, with the best overall performances in each age group
receiving £25.00 each.
The male and female age groups are broken
down into birth year (1992,1993,1994,1995) between Jan 1 and 31 Dec.
Scores will be calculated on the usual
Point Score sheets for Combined Events in the UK.
Any athlete wishing to take part must
register by the 25th August, by sending their name, date of birth, sex, club
and coach's name and email address to charles.laugharne@googlemail.com.
Pre-event entry lists and the full results from
the inaugural Cyber Multi-Event will be available on www.athletics-results.co.uk
Winning Athletes will receive their prize a
month after the close of the event.
The competition is not subject to any rules,
other than the requirement of Coaches to declare accurate results for
performances.
Performances can be held at the Club track
or from an event, as long as they are within the allocated time period.
The event needs 200 participants signed up
before the 25th August 2008 or else it will be cancelled, so why not give it a
go!
