The 18th edition of the MONDO Keien Meeting in the Dutch town of Uden saw good performance by Dutch discus thrower Erik Cadée, and Sweden’s Carolina Klüft on Saturday.
Former European junior discus champion Cadée bounced back after a couple of below-par performances, including only being able to finish sixth at the European Team Championships First League meeting in Izmir two weeks ago, when he threw 65.21m.
Heptathlon great Klüft, who is now concentrating on the long jump, had her best performance for nearly three years when she went out to 6.73m for second place at the SPAR European Team Championships in Stockholm and while she couldn’t quite reach that distance she did manage a respectable 6.44m in Uden.
On a day when the windy conditions caused problems for many athletes, Great Britain’s Aniyka Onuora was an impressive winner of the 200m in 23.17 and with a 1.4 metres-per-second breeze in her face
German javelin thrower Katharina Molitor, fourth at the European Athletics Championships last summer, turned the tables on her compatriot and Barcelona winner Linda Stahl, the former coming out on top with 62.59m to 59.66m respectively.
