Sekanová carries Czech hopes at SPAR European Cross Country Championships
The Czech athletics federation became the first country to name its complete team for the 2011 SPAR European Cross Country Championships when it announced that it will send four athletes to the event in Velenje, Slovenia, on 11 December.
Milan Kocourek will compete in the men's senior race, Jakub Bajza and Lucie Sekanova will contest the men's and women's under 23 races respectively while the junior men's race will see Petr Kaminski on the start line.
Czech athletes have never won a medal at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships but Sekanová may have a chance of changing that statistic.
She finished 10th in the under 23 race last year in Albufeira, Portugal, a big improvement on her 23rd place finish in 2009, and the 22-year-old Brno athlete will be hoping to make a similar step forward this year.
