The Swedish twins Susanna and Jenny Kallur are likely to make a
comeback by the start of summers.
Swedish hurdlers Susanna and Jenny Kallur successfully
underwent a surgery on the stress fractures that marred their performance throughout the year 2008.
The twin sisters are
unlikely to make a comeback in time for the start of indoor season. However if
the recovery goes as per plan, they should return to tracks by next summer.
The surgery was performed in New York by Dr David Helfet, a world
renowned expert in stress fractures.
Susanna, the World Indoor record holder for 60m Hurdles,
suffered from a hamstring injury last summer. The injury prevented her from
competing before the Olympic Games in Beijing.
The hurdler looked in excellent form in the Bird's Nest until she fell in the
semis, missing out on the sprint hurdles final.
The 60m hurdles gold medal
winner at the 2007 European Indoor Championships in Birmingham
last competed at the Weltklasse in Zurich
running the 100m hurdles at 12.71.
Sister Jenny, on the other hand, had already been sidelined for
almost a year with her fracture.
"I got the fracture in September 2007, but by
February it hadn't even started to heal so I chose an operation," the
27-year-old had told before going for the surgery.
