Arese elected to Executive Board of Italian Olympic Committee

President Franco Arese has been elected onto the Executive Board of the
Italian Olympic Committee (CONI).
The elections for the top body of Italian sports were held on Thursday, when
Gianni Petrucci was confirmed as CONI President for a fourth term.
Arese's election will offer a strong boost to the sport of athletics in Italy, with an
Italian Athletics President returning to the top office of the Olympic movement
in the country for the first time in 10 years. Gianni Gola, former president of
FIDAL, was a member of the CONI Executive Board till 1999.
Athletics representation on the Italian Olympic Committee received a further
boost with the election of Eddy Ottoz onto the Technical Committee and Marcello
Marchioni onto the Regional Committee.
