Eight European representatives were elected to the Council at the IAAF Congress in Beijing on Wednesday.
Sebastian Coe (GBR) was elected as President of the IAAF with 115 votes ahead of Sergey Bubka (UKR) with 92 votes.
Bubka was elected as Vice President with the most number of votes (187) alongside Dahlan Al Hamad (159), Hamad Kalkaba Malboum (115) and Alberto Juantorena (111).
With 102 votes (second round simple majority), Jose Maria Odriozola (ESP) is the new IAAF treasurer.

IAAF Council members: Ahmad Al Kamali, Du Zhaocai, Frank Fredericks, Hiroshi Yokokawa, Antti Pihlakoski (FIN), Bernard Amsalem (FRA), Mikhail Butov (RUS), Adille Sumariwalla, Mohammed Bin Nawaf Al Saud.
As President of European Athletics, Svein Arne Hansen will take his place on the Council as well as Area Representative.
In other elections, Jorge Salcedo (POR) was confirmed as the Chairperson of the IAAF Technical Committee.
The elected female Technical Committee members were Anna Palmerius (SWE), Elena Orlova (RUS) and Krisztina Horvath (HUN). Other technical committee members elected: Yukio Seki, David Katz, Shui Tao, Keith Davies (GBR), Pierre Delacour (FRA), Brian Roe, Antonio Perez (ESP), John Cronin (IRL), Luca Verrascina (ITA), Klaus Hartz (GER), Garth Gayle, Julio Roberto Gomez.
The elected Chair of the Women's Committee was Anne Phillips. Elected male members of the women's committee were Jakob Larsen (DEN) and Dennis Marshall. Other members of the women's committee: Wang Nan, Tatyana Lebedeva (RUS), Kajsa Bergqvist (SWE), Fatma Abdalla Ali, Esther Fittko, Maria Wophill, Kelly Sotherton (GBR), Maria de la Caridad Colon Ruenes.
Maurizio Damilano (ITA) was confirmed as Chair of the Race Walking Committee. Elected Race Walking Committee: Maryanne Daniel, Jane Saville, Yang Shande, Fumio Imamura, Jean-Pierre Dahm (FRA), Luis Saladie (ESP), Khaled Amara, Peter Marlow (GBR), Miguel Angel Rodriguez Gallegos, Robert Korzeniowski (POL).
The elected Chair of the Cross Country Committee was Carlos Cardoso (POR). Cross Country Committee Members: Paula Radcliffe (GBR), Patience Beatrice Ayikoru, David Siwa Okeyo, Wang Dawei, Khalid Skah, Siddig Ibrahim, Annette Petit-Sergent (FRA) Bill Roe, Luis Miguel Landa (ESP), Thelma Wright.
Kosovo
In the first part of the IAAF Congress on Wednesday Kosovo was approved as an IAAF Member Federation.
President Hansen said, 'I extend a special greeting to the newest IAAF Member Federation, our friends from Kosovo. Mirë se vini ! - Welcome to the Athletics Family.'
