David Littlewood (right) passed away in the early hours on Sunday morning at the age of 76. His passion and commitment to athletics will be remembered.

European Athletics is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Great Britain’s David Littlewood, a leading member of the athletics community.

Littlewood was one of the most respected officials in the sport, and his enthusiasm and professionalism will be missed.

British Athletics’ Cherry Alexander paid homage to Littlewood’s accomplishments:

“David was a long-standing member of the IAAF Technical Committee, the International Panel of photo finish judges and an International Technical Officer. He officiated all over the world and made many friends who held him in high esteem. His athletics technical expertise and knowledge was incomparable and had a significant impact on improving our sport.”

He was also highly involved with helping young athletes develop their talent and had been the honorary secretary of the English Schools Athletics Association for over 20 years.

His commitment to athletics will be remembered.
