European Athletics is pleased to announce Julien Mauriat as the new Chief Executive Officer of “European Athletics Marketing.”
Mauriat, previously the General Director of the French Athletics Federation, started his new role on 1 January 2018. He is tasked with defining, developing and commercialising European Athletics commercial strategy across the full portfolio of activities including its events, corporate programmes, communications and development projects.
European Athletics Marketing AG, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, acts as a service company for the commercial strategies and sales activities of European Athletics, including sponsor account management and rights delivery.
The federation is the sole shareholder of the company, with the federation maintaining ownership and control of its commercial properties.
The Board of Directors of the company has European Athletics Council Member Libor Varhanik as President and Board Member, and European Athletics Vice President Frank Hensel, CEO Christian Milz and Head of Marketing & Commercial Activities Charles Braun as Board Members.

“He has a clear remit to maximise our commercial revenues and increase the visibility and market attractiveness of European Athletics by associating with top international commercial partners, securing long-term partnerships with prestigious companies and brands and developing creative commercial opportunities to generate new and unique revenue streams for our federation.
“He is tasked with presenting a newly defined commercial strategy and updated Business Plan to the Board of Directors of European Athletics Marketing for period 2018-2022 that will then be presented to our Council in April 2018,” said President Hansen.
