The third edition of the European Week of Sport, which ran from 24-30 September, saw an estimated 210,000 Europeans embrace a healthy and active lifestyle by taking part in road running events in 26 countries.
The 181 registered races, part of a European Commission initiative, took place in over half of European Athletics’ Member Federations and the tally of events was an impressive increase of 24% from the 146 who signed up for the 2016 edition 12 months ago.
A number of the events were also certified as European Athletics Running For All races, which provides runners of all abilities with assurance that the races are organised to a verifiable standard of safety, security and services.
European Athletics promotes and administer the standards system of Running For All with its own recognisable brand, to create a welcoming, inclusive and informative community for runners and organisers alike.
