The newly formed European Athletics Event & Competition Commission held its first meeting of the 2015-2019 period in Lidingö, Sweden, from 25-27 September.
Commission Chair Toralf Nilsson reported on the activities since the last meeting of the previous Competition Commission held in March.
The Commission worked out different proposals and suggestions for the European Athletics Executive Board and Council to decide, for example amendments to the regulations and applications for one-day meetings.
It was recommended during the meeting, that European Athletics should work closely with the IAAF to rearrange the competition programme, calendar, and create a future qualification system for the Championships event.
Among other important topics discussed were the European Athletics Team Championships format restructure and possible creation of an annual European Half Marathon Championships.
