Fresh from her silver medal in Amsterdam, Marton rewrote her place in Hungarian athletics history when she improved her national record to 19.49m as she finished fourth in a strong competition won by New Zealand’s double Olympic champion Valerie Adams (20.19m) ahead of Germany's European champion Christina Schwanitz (20.14m) and American Michelle Carter (19.56m).
Both Schwanitz and Marton will be heading to Rio in a great frame of mind after what is proving to be a superb July for them both.
Hungary's Balazs Baji is another athlete in peak form with the Olympics so close and he confirmed that with victory in the 110m hurdles in 13.33 over South African Antonio Alkana (13.44) and Germany's Julian Marquart (13.78).
