The European Athletics Member Federation Development Commission, with European Athletics Vice President Jean Gracia as the chair, held an extensive three-day session from Tuesday 26 September to Thursday 28 September at the European Athletics Head Office in Lausanne.

Key topics of discussion included European Athletics educational concepts and strategy, including planning for 2018, ways in which European Athletics can strengthen communications with its Member Federations, gender equality issues within the sport in Europe including an evaluation of the five years of the Women in World Athletics programme – as well as developmental issues relating to youth athletics and clubs.

Other topics on the agenda included European Athletics and its Member Federations relations with the European Union and other governmental and non-governmental public bodies, and long-term strategies relating to the high performance area of the sport and also Running For All.

The Commission – one of six European Athletics Commissions – meets twice a year and the next meeting is schedule to be held in Lausanne from 10-12 April 2018.
