European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen delivered the opening speech at the Danish Athletics Congress on Saturday 3 October, during which he acclaimed the federation by saying that “in many ways Denmark is becoming a strong beacon in athletics.”
President Hansen spoke about the early work that has been accomplished since he was elected in April 2015.
He also presented the President of the Danish Athletics Federation, Karsten Munkvad, with a European Athletics plaque of recognition.
“DAF is proud to have such a distinguished visit by European Athletics President Hansen during our annual meeting,” said Munkvad.
The Danish Athletics Federation is steadily growing, as noticed during the 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships when the country finished eighth in the overall medals table and ranked first among the Nordic countries, with two gold medals.
'I very much look forward to returning to Denmark and hope to see further activities from European Athletics taking place here in the years to come,' said Hansen.
