European Athletics is pleased to announce the results of the Athletes’ Commission election that took place in Zurich, Switzerland, from 9-16 August during the 2014 European Athletics Championships.

678 athletes took part in the vote out of the 1447 present at the championships, which represents 46.86% participation.

3 women and 3 men were elected to be part of the 2014-2018 Commission and the members are:

Ivet Lalova of Bulgaria who received 521 votes ahead of Norway’s Isabelle Pedersen with 401 and Finland’s Hanna-Maari Latvala with 399.

On the men’s side Sweden’s Christian Olsson gained 536 votes and is joined by Nicola Vizzoni of Italy who received 379 and Greece’s Periklis Iakovakis 302.

Two more members of the commission (1 man & 1 woman) are appointed by the European Athletics Council.

If the consistency and the integration between the current and the new athletes’ commission are not guaranteed with the results of the election, a member of the current athletes’ commission may be appointed as a consultant by the European Athletics President, without any voting power.
