Four-time Olympian Denisa Rosolova from the Czech Republic has confirmed her retirement from athletics at the age of 31.

Rosolova has also announced she is expecting her first child with fiance and fellow international athlete and teammate Adam Sebastian Helcelet. 'There were lot of great moments in athletics, but now is the time to move forward. To become a mother is a great expectation, I’m enjoying every moment of this feeling,” said Rosolova.

Rosolova competed in four successive Olympics, making her debut in Athens just four days after celebrating her 18th birthday - and one month after winning the world U20 long jump title. Rosolova added the European U20 title to her resume the following season but her only senior medal in the event was a bronze from the 2007 European Indoor Championships in Birmingham.

Rosolova switched to the 400m in 2010 and on her international outdoor debut at the distance, the Czech claimed an excellent victory on home soil at the Ostrava Golden Spike in 50.85, defeating a field which included reigning Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu and Olympic silver medallist Shericka Williams. The following winter, Rosolova upset the favoured Russians to claim the European indoor 400m title in Paris.

But another change of events was on the cards as Rosolova switched from the flat to the hurdles in 2012. Rosolova won a silver medal at the 2012 European Championships in a lifetime best of 54.24 in Helsinki before finishing seventh at the London Olympics - by far her best showing in her four Olympic appearances in an individual event.

Rosolova was a valuable member of the Czech 4x400m team which won medals at the 2010 World Indoor Championships and 2012 European Championships and finished sixth at the 2011 World Championships and 2012 Olympics. Rosolova was also a talented multi-eventer, setting a Czech pentathlon record of 4632 points and scoring 6104 points in the heptathlon in 2008 to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
