Ekaterini Stefanidi has notched up victories in Paris and Rouen over the last five days and she will be looking to claim a hat-trick of wins on French soil at the Meeting de Lievin, a European Athletics Indoor Permit Meeting, on Tuesday (13).
Stefanidi extended her win streak to 17 competitions in Rouen on Saturday evening when she cleared a season’s best of 4.82m on her first attempt before three attempts at a prospective Greek record and world-leading mark of 4.92m.
While victory will be her first goal in Lievin, Stefanidi will no doubt have an eye on Sandi Morris’ world-leading mark of 4.90m which is also one centimetre in excess of Yelena Isinbayeva’s 13-year-old stadium record.
Fellow world champion Pierre-Ambroise Bosse will make his season’s debut in Lievin tomorrow night. He will be looking to break Mehdi Baala’s long-standing French indoor 1000m record of 2:17.01. Baala also holds the meeting record at a nearly identical 2:17.06.
The silver medallist behind Bosse at the IAAF World Championships in London last year, Poland’s Adam Kszczot will line up over 800m against a glittering field including Kenya’s Kipyegon Bett and former world champion Mohammed Aman from Ethiopia.
