European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen attended the Meeting Internacional de Santo António last week as part of his visit to Lisbon, Portugal.
Hansen met with Secretary of State Emidio Guerreiro, as well as the President of the Portuguese athletics federation, Jorge Vieira, and European Athletics Council member Jorge Salcedo.
President Hansen presented the Secretary of State with a special European Athletics plaque ‘in recognition of valuable service’.
The Meeting Internacional de Santo António presented a classy field of athletes which included the recent European indoor triple jump champion from Prague 2015, Nelson Evora.
And it was a close competition in the men's triple jump, Evora taking the win with 16.92m just ahead of Russia’s Lyukman Adams the European silver medallist from Zurich 2014.
President Hansen had the chance to meet long jump multi-medallist Naide Gomes as they both attended the meeting.
