Italy's 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships shot put gold medallist Assunta Legnante has been completely blind for six months but she has not lost her passion for athletics and on Saturday she set a world record of 13.27m in her category at the Italian Paralympic championships in Torino.
Her performance, in a series which also included an effort of 13.24m, added more than a metre to the former record of 11.84m.

Two-time European triple jump champion Christian Olsson forced to retire | 14.05.2012

Sweden's 2008 Olympic Games triple jump champion Christian Olsson has abandoned his bid to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games this summer and the 2002 and 2006 European Athletic Championships gold medallist also announced on Monday that he is retiring from the sport.
