The second leg of the 8th Moravian High Jump Tour in the Czech town of Trinec saw a double Russian victory for a pair of athletes who struck gold at continental championships last year: Ivan Ukhov and Mariya Kuchina.

Ukhov, the 2011 Europeaan Athletics Indoor Championships winner, cleared 2.32m after having a flawless competition until he attempted a world-leading 2.36m.

His compatriot Aleksey Dmitrik, the 2011 World Championships silver medallist, had won two days before in nearby Hustopece with 2.35m but this time could do no better than 2.25m and had to settle for fourth place.

The women's competition also saw drama as Kuchina, the 2011 European Athletics Junior Championships gold medallist, cleared a season's best of 1.96m with her first attempt and then had three close attempts on a world indoor junior record of 1.98m, an accolade the 19-year-old already holds after going over 1.97m last winter.

Fellow Russian Svetlana Shkolina also cleared 1.96m but with her third attempt and so had to settle for second place, while Romania's 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships gold medallist Esthera Petre cleared 1.93m for third place.
