The summer there will be celebrations in the household of Great Britain's 2011 European Athlete of the Year Mo Farah regardless of his results as he and his wife Tania have revealed to the British media that they are expecting twins just shortly after the Olympics come to an end.

Mo and Tania already have a daughter, six-year-old Rhianna, and her siblings are expected to arrive on 25 September

"It's going to be quite a year. I might not show it but it is exciting. I was like 'WHAT?' when we found out," revealed the delighted Farah.

Farah won the World Championships 5000m title last summer and did the long-distance double over 5000m and 10,000m at the 2010 European Athletics Champi-onships.

He is one of the host country's big hopes for a gold medal at this summer's Olympic Games in London.

Farah, 29, first heard the news of Tania's pregnancy via a Skype conversation with his wife during a two-month enforced absence this winter as he trained at altitude in Kenya.

"It was the end of January and I was about to leave to race in Glasgow. When Tania told me she was pregnant, I said: 'Really, are you?' I didn't think about the dates at that point. To be honest, I didn't even know the dates of my races at the Olympics.

"And we didn't know it was twins then. It was only when Tania went for a scan a few weeks ago that we found out; that threw everything into perspective. I was like 'Help. We need to call a nanny!'" joked Farah.
