Korcok the new Slovak Athletic Federation president | 21.10.2012

The new president of Slovak Athletic Federation is former walker Peter Korcok, who competed three times in both the Olympic Games and European Athletics Championships.

Korcok brought his competitive career to an end after the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, with his best result at a major competition being eighth in the 50km walk at the 2006 European Athletics Championship.

At the age of 38, Korcok will be among the youngest of the current leaders of a European Athletics Member Federation.

He takes over from former high jumper Maria Mracnova, the 1969 European Athletics Championships bronze medallist, who stood down after being the federation president since 1998.
