Armenian coaches receive European Athletics Coaching Awards

Gohar Nazaryan and Arto Arstamyan were presented with the European Athletics Coaching Awards during a meeting of the Presidium of Armenian Athletic Federation in Yerevan city last week.

The two coaches were recognised for their distinguished service to the development of athletics in Armenia and contribution to the promotion of sport in the country.

European Athletics Coaching Awards are given to coaches whose athletes win gold medals at senior European Athletics Championships (Outdoors, Indoors, Cross Country, and Mountain Running) and to coaches nominated by their federations based on the criteria "excellence in coaching".

It is designed to recognise the highest level of success working with athletes and to create motivation for specialists in different field of athletics coaching such as work with young athletes, coach education and the development of coaching methodology.

To date, nearly 100 coaches from 36 countries have received the award, which can be won only once by an individual.

During the meeting in Yerevan, Armenian Athletic Federation President Robert Emmiyan also feted four national athletes Boris Simonov, Mher Mashumyan, Valya Avagyan and Emmelia Petrosyan for their successful participation at the 20km International Half Marathon in Marseille – Cassis, France.

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Hrachya Rostomyan, coaches of regional athletic federations, representatives of Armenian Athletic Federation were also present during the meeting.
