Providing leadership skills for the future was the focus of the Young Leaders Seminar which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on 14-16 June.
Thirty nine participants between the ages of 20 and 30 from 31 Member Federations took part in the three-day event in the Bulgarian capital which was organised with support from the Bulgarian Athletic Federation.
The participants, who had to be nominated for their potential as future leaders by their respective home federations, took part in a rigorous and stimulating series of workshops and seminars and also examined different leadership styles as part of the itinerary.
Occupying a large part of the second day were speakers addressing the theme ‘New Leadership for New Times’. Case studies from Great Britain and Italy relating to youth councils in their respective countries were also presented to the audience of Young Leaders on the final day.
The three day event in Sofia also provided an excellent chance for the participants to network and socialise with like-minded people who could one day play a significant role in directing and administrating the sport.
The Bulgarian Athletic Federation has been an active force in the staging of developmental seminars related to youth and kids projects in recent years. The federation also staged the 2018 European Athletics Kids Athletics Activators Seminar in Samokov last February.
