Ethiopian Hiwot Ayalew, running for Turkish club Üsküdar Belediye SK took the senior women's title last year in Albufeira.

The 52nd edition of the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country will be held in Guadalajara, Spain, on Sunday 1 February 2015.

The events take place over a single day of competition, with junior and senior races for both men and women.

Only clubs recognised as National Champions of the preceding year in each category are eligible to take part in the event.

All clubs must present at least four runners in each category with a maximum of six starting in the race. The team scores shall be determined by the aggregate finishing positions achieved by its four best placed athletes.

Many European, world and Olympic champions have competed in this event and it is sure to bring the best out of the current top European athletes again this year.

In 2014 Spain’s Atletismo Bikila club retained the men’s senior title, while Morocco’s Mohamed Moustaiou, running for the French club of Alès Cévennes Athlétisme, won the individual race.

On the women’s side it was a strong group finish by Russia’s Sport Club Luch Moscow that saw them also keep their title. Natalya Gorchakova, Lyudmila Lebedeva, Natalya Leontyeva and Natalya Vlasova finished in third, fourth, fifth and sixth. However they were not able to keep up with Ethiopian Hiwot Ayalew, running for Turkish club Üsküdar Belediye SK.

In the under-20 boy’s, Turkey’s Kocaeli Darica club completely dominated the race, with the four Turkish athletes taking the first four positions, Saffet Elkatmis running away with victory in 19:05.

For the girls, again it was Sport Club Luch Moscow who took the team title with 20 points, but this time it was close as Swedish club Hässelby SK put up quite a fight with 28 points led by Sarah Lahti who won the 3.8 km race in 13:05.
