There is simply no stopping the brilliance of Renaud Lavillenie and Dafne Schippers.

Less than three weeks away from the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Prague, the pair have once more demonstrated they are on the road to something spectacular at the 02 Arena.

In Berlin on Saturday, Lavillenie extended his world-leading pole vault mark to 6.02m while Schippers sprinted to a 60m personal best of 7.09.

the Frenchman is relishing another remarkable winter and no wonder because he is now chasing the world record again.

Could it happen in Prague?

Oh yes it can.

Having achieved world leads of 5.92m, 6.00m and 6.01m, he increased his 2015 mark by another centimetre at his first attempt and then in front of Ukraine's Sergey Bubka, he attempted 6.17m.

He tried three times at that height, looking to break the world indoor record of 6.16m that he took from Bubka last February (his mark of 6.15m had stood for 21 years) but missed out this time.

Dutch double European sprint champion Shippers was equally delighted with her run.

She started the year with an indoor personal best of 7.17, she lowered it to 7.12 at the end of last month and now has the clear European leading mark from Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith with 7.12 after a dominant sprint where South African’s Carina Horn was second in 7.20.

It was a great night in Berlin for Europe's athletes as in the women's discus, not a regular event on the circuit in the winter, Germany's Shanice Craft broke the world indoor best with a throw of 62.07m.
