Yaroslava Mahuchikh surpassed the 2.00m-barrier for the third time this season at the Ukrainian Indoor Championships in Sumy on Saturday (22) afternoon.
Mahuchikh opened her season by clearing 2.01m in Lviv before improving her world indoor U20 record to 2.02m in Karlsruhe at the end of January.
While she extended her unbeaten streak with wins in Banska Bystrica on 11 February and Glasgow on 15 February, Mahuchikh didn’t quite reach the heights she was clearing in January but she made all of the technical adjustments on Saturday afternoon.
Mahuchikh cleared 1.98m on her second attempt before soaring clear at 2.01m again on her second attempt in a manner which suggests the Ukrainian, who is still only 18, could challenge her outright world U20 record of 2.04m.
The world silver medallist and European U20 champion will close her indoor campaign on Friday at the Karsten Warholm International in Ulsteinvik.
