President Svein Arne Hansen met with the City Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, on Wednesday 25 January following the European Athletics Executive Board retreat held in Israel over the past three days.
Mayor Barkat is a fond supporter of athletics and they spoke about organising future European Athletics events in Jerusalem.
President Hansen also described to the mayor his plans to modernise the sport, measures which had been discussed at length during the preceding EXBO in Tel Aviv.
During the EXBO meeting, Hansen was presented with annual reviews from the Chairmen of each Commission and received an activity report from European Athletics CEO Christian Milz.
“We have made a lot of progress
in 2016 towards delivering the changes outlined in my election manifesto ‘Leading
Change’, said Hansen.
“I’m sure that with the help of my colleagues on the Council, our professional staff and our many supporters in the 51 Member Federations, we will continue to deliver these changes in 2017.”
Members of the EXBO will meet again in Belgrade on 2 March ahead of the European Athletics Indoor Championships held in the Serbian capital from 3-5 March.
