The appointed European Athletics jury has selected a final shortlist of 7 stunning works of art from the numerous entries that were submitted from across Europe during the 10 weeks prior to the closing date at the end of July.
The voting for the winning work of art is now underway through our European Athletics Facebook page.
The work with the most 'likes' will become the main prize for the 2017 European Athletics Women’s Leaderships Awards.
The winning artist will receive a commission of 1,000 CHF plus a 16GB iPad mini as a reward.
In addition, the artwork with the most votes will be professionally reproduced so that copies can be presented to the award winners at the forthcoming European Athletics Golden Tracks awards in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Saturday 14 October and at national ceremonies during the following months.
The voting closes at 1200 CET on Thursday 31 August.
Background
The biennial European Athletics Women’s Leadership Awards was created in 2009 to recognise and celebrate women leaders in the sport of athletics.
European Athletics’ 51 Member Federations have been asked to identify one winner for her work and accomplishments as a coach, or volunteer, or administrator, or elected official. Indeed, for any significant contribution to our sport other than for success in competition.
The main criterion is “a significant contribution that serves as an example of leadership and other values of the sport of athletics”.
