The European Athletics Development Commission will meet 14-16 March in Bologna, Italy.

Chaired by European Athletics Vice President Jean Gracia, the 11-member Commission’s agenda includes updates on all European Athletics development activities and discussion of proposals and ideas for the future.

Mr Gracia will brief the Commission on his work as Europe’s representative on the IAAF Development Commission and on the implementation of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, which includes the EU’s budget for funding sport-related projects.

Among the main items of European Athletics’ work to be covered will be reviews of two recent and successful educational measures:  last autumn’s High-Performance Conference in Frankfurt and January’s Health & Well-Being Conference in Marseille.

Both discussions are expected to lead to recommendations for new projects.

Progress on the draft standards for the safety and quality of road races, which are currently in a Europe-wide consultation exercise, and the Green Inspiration sustainability project, which was delivered last year and has been extended for 2014, will also be discussed.

The Commission normally meets twice per year – in the spring and autumn - and advises European Athletics’ Executive Board and Council on all matters related to the development of the sport.
