President Svein Arne Hansen travelled to Poland ahead of the 2nd International Copernicus Cup in Torun on Friday evening, a European Athletics Indoor Permit Meeting.
Hansen first visited the Polish Athletics Federation headquarters in Warsaw on Thursday morning, where he was warmly welcomed by leaders of the Polish Athletics Federation.
He met with the federation’s President Jerzy Skucha and General Director Piotr Dlugosielski, and presented them with a special European Athletics plaque ‘in recognition of valuable service’.

In the afternoon, Skucha and Dlugosielski brought Hansen to the Polish Olympic House where the nation's best Olympic athletes of the past are celebrated.
On Friday morning, Hansen met with the authorities in Torun; the city is a candidate to host the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships in the Arena Torun where the Copernicus Cup is held.
“The Polish people share a true passion for athletics and I can’t wait to attend the Copernicus Cup in Torun where I’m certain the atmosphere will be fantastic,” said Hansen.
