Czech Republic will be sending 49 athletes - 25 men and 24 women - to the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships from 7-12 August.

The Czechs picked up two medals in the men’s javelin at the IAAF World Championships in London last year and they will be sending a strong triumvirate who will be looking to challenge the Germans: Jakub Vadlejch, Petr Frydrych and Viteslav Vesely.

Vadlejch and Frydrych won silver and bronze behind Johannes Vetter in London last August and Vesely won the world title in Moscow in 2013.

Other medal contenders include Tomas Stanek in the shot put, Jakub Holusa in the 1500m, Anezka Drahotova in the 20km race walk and Pavel Maslak in the 400m while former two-time world 400m hurdles champion Zuzana Hejnova will be looking to pick up her first ever European medal in Berlin.

Czech Republic won four medals - all silver - at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam.
