Entries are already open for next year’s edition of the Copenhagen Half Marathon on 17 September, a race which has been given a five-star certification rating by European Athletics Running for All.

The event is still in its relative infancy having only been staged for the first time last autumn but the half marathon has already established itself as one of the fastest races in the world. World-leading times have been set in the last two editions of the race and runners flock from all around the world in pursuit of a lifetime best in the Danish capital.

”The Copenhagen Half Marathon course has already proven itself as one of the fastest in the world, and in 2017 we will attempt to push the race records even closer to the world records,” said CEO of the Danish Athletics Federation, Jakob Larsen.

“At the same time, it is important that the race is not only about results. We are constantly working towards our ambition of giving the participants an experience of a lifetime. It's all about service, entertainment, putting a smile on everyone's lips and making this race a major celebration.”

And the organisers’ efforts on this front certainly haven’t gone unnoticed. Nearly seventeen percent of the 22,000 entrants came from abroad last year and the race was also honoured with the WTM Global Sport Tourism Mass Participation Event of the Year Award last month.

”Considering the race is only two years old, we are thrilled to having been able to attract this many international participants. This clearly indicates the international potential of this race,” said CEO of co-organiser Sparta Dorte Vibjerg.

“We believe that, in a short period of time, the Copenhagen Half Marathon will be among those events in Copenhagen that attracts the most international tourists and thereby contributes to shaping the brand of Copenhagen. Our goal is to become the half marathon equivalent to the Berlin Marathon.”

Registration for the Copenhagen Half Marathon 2017 is open at www.cphhalf.com and in the CPH Half App.

The European Athletics Quality Road Race standards act as an assurance for road runners throughout Europe. They distinguish between races that respect the standards and those that haven’t sought certification or assessment. They form the foundation of Running for All, a strong recognisable brand for running activities throughout Europe.
