The second European Athletics Event Presentation Seminar was held in Frankfurt over the weekend.
50 Representatives from 27 different European Athletics events, permit meetings and Member Federations throughout Europe were present to discuss ways and solutions to make competitions more interesting and understandable to the spectators and general public.
This was also a good networking opportunity for all those involved to learn from each other as athletics continues to modernise itself.
The seminar featured presentations by European Athletics event presentation consultants Andy Kay, Arnd Heiken and Florian Michael Weber as well as Swedish expert Janne Akerblom.The presentations are found under 'Related Documents'.
The roundtable discussion with television expert Johan Bernhagen, RG Jones sound systems specialist Andrew Williamson, Creative Technology screens provider Steve Purkess and OMEGA timing & data processing provider Alex Kollega opened into an interactive discussion with the attendees.
European Athletics Senior Vice-President José Luis de Carlos and Council member Toralf Nilsson, both present at the seminar, acknowledged that event presentation is now a necessity rather than an option and that the sport needs to act in order to appeal to the non-expert spectators in the stadium and on television.
