Distance runners Dewi Griffiths and Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal have been voted as the European Athletes of the Month for October after their feats on the roads.
Griffiths, who is still training 100-110 miles a week while working on his parent’s farm, set a half marathon personal best of 1:01:33 at the Cardiff Half Marathon in his native Wales on 1 October to give notice that he Briton was rounding into fine shape for his marathon debut later in the month.
He then finished fifth at the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon in 2:09:49 to go second on the 2017 European list for the classic distance.

Grøvdal moved to the top of the European 10km lists for the year with the Norwegian runner delivering a brilliant performance in front of her home crowd in Hole.
She triumphed at the Hytteplanmila 10km in 31:25 for her sixth consecutive win in what is one of her favourite annual outings.
