European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen and First Vice President Dobromir Karamarinov attended the 29th International Athletic Marathon 30km in Ohrid on 8 September as part of their visit to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
President Hansen, who was welcomed by the President of the Macedonian Athletic Federation, Krsto Serafimovski, and organisers of the Ohrid Marathon 30km, was impressed by the organisation of the event and the facilities offered to athletes and spectators.Hansen had previously travelled to Skopje to meet with Kire Sinadinovski, the race director of the Wizz Air Skopje Marathon, which has been certified as a 5-Star Quality Road Race by European Athletics.
European Athletics' two most senior officials shared their vision for the future of the sport and their efforts to raise the standards of endurance running across the continent.
Hansen also stated that he is looking forward to seeing further activities from European Athletics taking place in Macedonia.
