  • Hassan’s coach headlines Oslo seminar

Dutchman Honoré Hoedt, the coach of European 1500m Champion Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands and currently Norway’s head middle and long distance coach, leads the speaker lineup at the 23rd annual Norwegian Athletics Coaches Seminar, which will take place in Oslo from 7-9 November 2014.

The seminar, organised by the Norwegian Athletics Coaches Association, is open to participants from all countries.

Other top coaches scheduled to speak in the English language section of the programme include Piotr Bora, who is in charge of jumping events for the Polish federation, Australian Steve Rippon, the national pole vault coach for Finland, Pierre-Jean Vazel, who coaches elite sprinters in France and Ronald Vetter, the Dutch national head coach for combined events.

Hoedt’s athlete Hassan had an incredible 2014 season finishing at the top of the world rankings with her 3:57.00 from the Paris Diamond League meeting. After taking gold in the Zurich 1500m, she was in contention for a historic double, but had to settle for 5000m silver behind Sweden’s Meraf Bahta after a close finish.

The seminar will open on Friday 7 November at the Royal Christiania Hotel in the centre of Oslo, where the focus will be on developing talented youngsters into professional athletes.

The rest of the programme, held at Norway’s national institute of sport, will cover more technical aspects and personal training experiences.

The deadline for registration is 17 October.
