European Athletics is delighted to be back in Greece for the 2015 European Athletics Team Championships First League in Heraklion.
Heraklion is the capital of Crete and fourth biggest city in Greece, it's also known for being a top touristic destination in the Mediterranean.
The First League will be held simultaneously with the European Athletics Team Championships Super League in Cheboksary, Russia, and Second League in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, on 20-21 June 2015. The Third League takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 21-22 June as part of the European Games.
Host nation Greece will face Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland and Türkiye during the two-day event, where the top three finishing teams will earn a promotion to the following year's Super League and the bottom three relegated to the Second League.
Last year it all came down to the final 4x400m relay event as Belarus was able to hold off Norway to take the team title. While Finland secured third spot which means they too move up to the Super League in 2015.
