Norway’s Jacob Ingebrigtsen and Croatia’s Sara Kolak have been voted the male and female European Athlete of the Month for July.

Ingebrightsen, the second Norwegian in as many month’s to win the male European Athlete of the Month after Karsten Warholm’s win in June, got an unprecedented 3000m steeplechase and 5000m double at the Grosseto 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships.

Ingebrigtsen took almost exactly a third of the combined vote with German javelin thrower Johannes Vetter in second place.

Rio 2016 Olympic Games javelin champion Sara Kolak’s triumphant month included a win at the IAAF Diamond League in Lausanne where she hurled her implement out to a world-leading 68.43m, a Croatian national record by more than two metres, and then took the European U23 title over a strong field in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz.

In a tight contest for the women’s monthly honours, Kolak amassed 181 votes more than her compatriot and fellow Olympic champion Sandra Perkovic with a total of 1914 likes, shares and retweets via European Athletics’ social media channels.
