The qualifying window opened on 1 January 2017 and closed on 22 July 2018. The two fastest times set in the qualifying period were combined with the top-16 teams in each relay qualifying for the European Championships. Based on aggregate times, Great Britain has the fastest qualifying times in all four relay events.
At the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam, Great Britain won both the men’s 4x100m and women’s 4x400m. The Netherlands won the women’s 4x100m on home soil with Belgium closing the championships with victory in the men’s 4x400m.
