Dutch sprinting star Dafne Schippers and Poland's elite hammer thrower Pawel Fajdek have been voted European Athletes of the Month for August.
Voting for European Athlete of the Month took place through our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages over the past two days. Athletes with the most combined Twitter 'retweets' and Facebook 'likes' were crowned the winners.
Schippers took the women’s title with over 1000 Facebook likes and 650 retweets on twitter, having won 200m gold in a championship record time of 21.63 in Beijing and also brought back silver over 100m.
With over 1000 combined Facebook likes and retweets, Fajdek was the winner on the men's side having successfully defended his world hammer title in Beijing with an impressive 80.88m throw.
