Amela Terzic and Lazar Anic are ready to give the crowd in Belgrade something to remember at the European Athletics Indoor Championships which start on Friday 3 March.

So far it has been a brilliant year for the Serbian pair and now their aim will be to top it with a major medal bid at the showcase event of this winter season taking place in their own country.

Middle-distance runner Terzic, 24, is already one of Serbia’s finest athletes with her success at junior and under-23 level while the progression of long jumper Anic, 25, puts him among the favourites to challenge for a podium place.

Less than a fortnight ago, Terzic was writing her way into the record books again in Belgrade when she took the national 800m time to 2:03.27 with victory at the Serbian Championships on what was a memorable weekend because the day before she won the 1500m title in 4:12.51.

Even in her short career, Terzic has totted up nine medals on the European Athletics stage, including double gold at the European Junior Championships in 2011 (1500m and 3000m), twice being the European U23 1500m champion (2013 and 2015) and winning the junior race at the 2012 SPAR European Cross Country Championships.

As she chases her first indoor success, Anic will also be looking to raise the noise level at the Kombank Arena.

And like Terzic, he also had a superb national championships where he won the title with 7.88m, the furthest he has jumped indoors, to move to seventh on the European Athletics rankings.

He began 2017 with an indoor best of 7.80m from Istanbul last year and with this new improvement, Anic will be even more determined to go further in two weeks time having made the final of the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam last July.

And his message to the crowd is: “The European Athletics Championships in Belgrade is getting close. Join us, I will be there to jump for all of you.”

Do not miss out...it should be something special.
