The DOZ Marathon Lodz 2017, a five-star certified race by European Athletics Running for All, promises to be the 'Loudest Marathon in Poland'.
In total, there will be 52 official cheering points along the 26.2-mile course and at half of them, there will be live music by local bands selected by Piotr Rogucki - artistic director of the event and the leader of a popular Polish rock band - COMA.
The marathon course will be divided into five sections, each featuring a difference genre of music: club and disco music, rock 'n' roll, jazz and folk, pop and world music. There will be 26 cheering points with live music along the course.
“I decided to run in the DOZ Marathon Lodz some time ago. I was born in Lodz, I live here and I am strongly bound up with this city. When the marathon organisers contacted me, I was pretty surprised. I wouldn't think my theatrical and music experience might be helpful for them!” said Piotr.
“Suddenly I have joined their team now and I have an opportunity to make the race even more attractive to runners and help develop the local music stage at the same time. In return, I expect the bands to give me an extra boost on the race day. My goal is to break four hours and music always gives me additional energy!”
The remaining 26 cheering points will be populated by local schools and companies and runners can expect a rapturous finish in the Atlas Arena - one of the biggest sporting and entertainment venues in Poland.

The fastest entrant for this year’s race is Kenya’s Jafred Kipchumba, whose best time stands at 2:05:48 from the 2011 Eindhoven Marathon. There could be some home success in the women’s race with two-time runner-up Agnieszka Mierzejewska considered the favourite.
